Young Bun
we just got a new bunny on nov 23rd. well my daughter did... my daughter(9yrs old) also has a 2 yr old syrian(larger sized hamster known as teddy bear) hamster that is a male named teddy... bunny appears to be holland lop(or a mix with that, i am just guessing as i wasn't told) and is named sweetpea(or sweetie).... sweetie is a fully grown mature 8-9LB female spayed bunny with 2 disabled legs(right side, front 'n rear, posted comment abt that in health forum)... here's a picture of sweatpea and of teddy... SweetPea is our very first bunny so any advice will be appreciated. And if you own a disabled bunny like SweetPea or know somebody who does, please let me know how they cope 'n help the bunny live and be active? And What type of toys do you recommend we get for SweetPea?? SweetPea has no difficulty with moving around and appears to be in no pain so i dont think its a recent injury, its either a birth defect or a early in life injury that never healed right.

:wave:Welcome! I have no experience of disabled bunnies (aside from a hind leg amputation) but I'm sure there will soon be someone along who can offer advice.

I spoke today with my brother's girlfriend(who is a vet tech for the vet i was gunna schedule an appt with) and she said it seems like its a birth defeat not an old injury and she doesn't appear to be in pain while she was examined. My brothers girlfriend also has bunnies of her own, none of them disabled however. I am attaching a few pictures of SweetPea/Sweetie Pie/Sweetie. (lol.)

Inside her cage where she spent majority of her days in in her prior home. she isn't used to having free roam.

Kristin(my daughter) holding her today. We brought SweetPea/Sweetie Pie/Sweetie(I just started calling her sweets, lol) out after everybody had left for the day. To not over-whelm her, the examination was done in the 'privacy' of Kristins bedroom.

Better picture(to a point) of her right side.

Ouch, bless her, that looks very uncomfortable :( i hope she can have a good life with you guys :)

awww she is a cutie! that does look so uncomfy :( reminds me of Hoppy, a bun at Rabbit Residence rescue in Royston. He has a back leg that got broken, the previous owner never bothered to get vet treatment, so it healed all wonky! He gets about just fine though, a very friendly bun.

Good luck working out what happened to this poor little bun!

had vet appt this morn(great to have contacts, lol). and he(vet) said its just that sprawled leg syndrom. no prior breaks that he could tell, and she gets around just fine. 85% use of her right rear and 5% of her right front. Said she's in great/excellent health, had her shots 'n including rabies, and blood work done(courtesy came back healthy, had several vials to send out to blood lab for analysis). Said she's a Holland Lop/Mix. His wife breeds 'em, he is a rabbit specialist, and he grew up with rabbit breeders 'n feeder rabbits.

Aww, she is gorgeous. What an angle for her poor legs. Hopefully some posters with experience of disabled bunnies will have advice for you.
