  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hello everybody this could be nothing but i just wanted too ask i got midnight spayed on thursday ( 17th Nov) she was kept there over night in till the friday i was wondering is it normal for them too be sleepy every since i got her home all she does it sleep sometimes has a wee hoppy about shes still eating drinking etc just wondering if anybody can help?

Hiya

The spay operation is huge for a girl, like a hysterectomy would be for a human female. The General Anaesthetic also knocks them about quite abit, so I would think your girl is just tired and resting (and rightly so!) after the op.

Aslong as she is eating and drinking well, and her wound is clean I wouldnt worry, just keep her warm and let her recouperate.

However if you are atall worried I would advise calling your vet for advise

ok then thank you so much! :] i know after her op she wasn't eating so the vet give me some of this stuff too feed her with but now shes eatting thanks for all your help

Yep it's a big operation she's bound to feel groggy, let her have plenty of rest and give her time to heal :)
