Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

They're in and I'm in tears! U/D post 33 - more questions - sorry!

I'm sat here with tears in my eyes trying not to cry as I took my girlies in today for their spays.

I know it's for the best but I'm so scared that; they won't wake up; they won't eat/drink; they won't heal; they'll rip the stitches out ... etc

I so need a hug (and I'm 42 !) !

Awwww am sure they will be fine! It is always horrible leaving them for an op like that!

Try to keep busy and am sure they will be okay, you are right it is totally the best thing for them!

Big hugs!!! XXX Keep us posted how they are doing! XX

Hugs for you, I find if any of mine go in its a good time to have a good clean of their living quarters!! It feels like you are doing something nice for when they come home and also keeps you busy.

Im sure all will be fine xx

Thank you, all :)

Oddly enough, I have emptied their hutch out, given it a good squirt of disinfectant, washed their water bottle etc to make it all nice 'n' clean for when they go back in it in a few days' time. I'm frantically doing laundry so that it's all done for when they come home later as the utility will be too hot/noisy else for them. Bless their little furry feet!

Time for a nice hot coffee I think too! :)

Sending loads of vibes for your girlies, I'm sure they will be fine. xxx

And sending a big hug for you. Try not to get yourself all worked up and upset, I know it's easier said than done though.

Big hugs from this direction, and vibes for your girls. xxx

I drank 15 mugs of strong black tea the day Spenser went to the Plum Fairy last year.

You poor soul. I totally understand. I have had my own rabbits spayed and numerous foster rabbits and it's always worrying. Try not to worry about things that haven't happened yet though, you'll be a nervous wreck by the time they come home.

Hope they're home and safe soon.

:( I felt the same way with mine. It's definitely scary and stressful. Hopefully the time will pass quickly for you and you'll be able to pick them up soon. :) Do something fun to get your mind off it.

No phone call yet :? I'll give them until 2pm and then ring as the Vet said that if an emergency comes in the Nurses won't be able to phone me.

Hi there!

I totally understand how you feel as I was so nervous at work the day my girl went in for her spay... kept staring at the phone, waiting for the vet call to say she was fine lol. But everything went well and she woke up on time etc. So many bunnies are spayed and neutered ALL the time and a huge majority of them come out fine especially if they were generally healthy and had a good weight.

The post-op care is a bit of a pain though, but even that is not too much of a biggie :)

So yours, I am sure, would be fine too :)

Sending healthy vibes to them...

update

Well I've just caved in and phoned the Vet to be told the very good news that they are awake, very "wobbly" still but have had the tiniest bite to eat and I can call in from 4.30 to get them :)

Really chuffed they've come round okay - I can relax now *phew* :D :thumb:

Hi,

Glad your girls have come round well :)

My Macie isn't due to be spayed until January and I'm already worrying
