Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Wet patch on rabbits fur

The past couple of days I have noticed a small wet patch of fur on my rabbits lower back. It's in the same position each time, and I have used a flea comb to have a look at the skin, which looks fine and is not oozing. I've dried it, and when I've held her again later in the day it's back again. I think she has mites as she has got dry flaky skin, has anyone heard of wet fur before? I've looked on the internet and can't find anything. I've got her an appointment with the vets tomorrow but was wondering if anyone has had anything similar or any suggestions as to what it might be? I have noticed that her hutch is slightly damp, but can't see how this could make her back wet, and it doesnt smell so can't be wee. Thanks for your help

If she has mites she may be chewing at her fur as she will be very itchy.

Mites often flare up in Rabbits who have other underlying problems, especially Dental ones. So a check up at the Vets is certainly needed

Good luck :)
