Polythene plastic for insulation?

I bought a huge piece of polythene sheeting as I was going to cover the run with it but i think its too thin so I'm going to get some proper tarp...can i use the polythene to add some layers under the hutch cover? It's a huge piece so I could probably make a fair few layers? Would it work?

It would be waterproof, but i would be concerned that it would not be breathable. If you were just gonna put it on the roof then i think it would be ok, but i wouldnt put it round the whole hutch.

Sorry I should have been more specific...I was thinking about putting it over the roof and walls but not the front (the hutch cover has a waterproof flap that comes down the front)
