  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Blood in Bunnies cage/litter tray ....

New Kit
I found blood in Georgie’s pee (runny not spots) a couple of weeks ago. We took her to the vet, where we were giving antibiotics for 7 days. The problem went away, but a week later has started again. Again we took her the vet and she is waiting for an x-ray tomorrow to rule out stones.
However when checking her in the last 1hr we noticed that the blood seems to be sludge like (there was a lot of it) and there was what only I could describe as a long blood clot.
I know were taking her in tomorrow but does anyone have experience of this problem in their bunnies.

I am not sure what this is, but I would treat it as an emergency and get your bun to the vets right now as it doesn't sound good.

Good luck xx

Thankyou for the replys unfortunatly Georgie passed on shortly after, the vet told us the next day it could of been a tumor but he was unsure. She will be missed greatly xxx

I'm so sorry for your loss - the very best wishes to you, and wishing Georgie a happy life at the Bridge! x
