  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Panacur Conference My Vet has just been on

scatter

Alpha Buck
Hi

I spoke to my vet this morning. He said to not get too excited as nothing really very new had come out of it! He has been on the conference this week.

He reiterated that the 9 day course is probably a bit of a waste of time, but said that research has been done where they 'gave' rabbits E-cuni deliberately:cry: and then did a 9 day course and this got rid of all signs of the E-cuni, which was fine if you knew exactly when it had been contracted. However, he would still recommend the one-off 30 days course and to do it if any symptoms occur - unless you knew exactly when it had started (which would obviously not be the case mostly).

However, I thought it quite interesting that the 9 day course 'got rid' of all signs of E Cuni - and didn't think (from reading on here) that this was the case. He said that this had been extensively researched though (according to the rabbit experts at the conference - completely independent vets incidentally), but still wouldn't recommend a 9-day course!:?
