  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Off To The Vets Tomorrow

Young Bun
I have booked the appointment.......

Smartie is our 11 year bunny! She has been going downhill very slowly over the past week but today was the final straw! She is old and thats my excuse for most things! She has always been an out door bunny but due to her age we have brought her in for the winter! She seems to love being indoors! I guess she likes the hustle and bustle of my house along with our cat and very noisy 7 budgies!!!

Its got to the point she is having to be cleaned out twice a day as she is just weeing everywhere, I just put this down to age really but I have gone home today and there is a little bit of blood in her bed!!

She kept getting a really dirty bum so I got use to cleaning her and removing the wee and poo from her bum but this is not good! She doesnt seem to be any pain and is still running around the room!

She is booked in tomorrow at 6pm as I have to work tomorrow! I would get her there earlier if they had an appointment! I have my mother in law sitting with her tomorrow and any change she will be rushed to another vet! I dread the news! I just hope its something like a bladder infection but who knows! I have read online that it could be cancer!

I hope everyone can send their vibes for little Smartie
