(apologies if this is in the wrong place, feel free to move moddy people :))

I'm really worried about tomorrow night, Biscuit is so nervous and hates loud noises.

What can i do for an indoor bunny to help him feel better? I thought about locking them in the dog crate for the night, and covering it with fleeces to try and dull the noises (its not the lights that scare him, but the loud bangs and wails).

Can anyone make any other suggestions?

He's already been really jumpy this week while people have had their own private little displays but we have a HUGE one on the seafront each year, provided by the council, and i'm actually really scared :(

Can anyone help me out please?

Hi Gray

I think I'd try and keep things as 'normal' as possible but in addition I would have the television on from when it's dark until late (if possible) + a radio on upstairs too? Obviously keep as many doors as possible close to muffle any really loud bangs  Hope he & Ginger are ok x

There's no TV in their room (as its my office) but i'll put the PC on to play music as they live in here, should it just be a background noise, or reasonable volume?

I'll keep all the windows and curtains closed (i normally keep the window open to keep the air fresh in here, 'cos of Ginger) and may put a couple of extra fleeces in their area to absorb some of the sounds etc.

He was so scared last year, that he stopped eating, he just cowered under our sofa for about 6 hours straight :(

Thanks for Replying Jen

Thank you, i'll try and look into these :D

I have used it numerous times with animals (and myself for my driving tests ) and i believe it does help :)

Im really lucky my bunnies dont care too much, but i hope your wee cherubs are ok this year :)

I'd start with background but increase it if the noises outside become more obvious. Often I think it's the vibration from the bangs that are the problem :( Can you give them both an extra snack just before it's dark so they have full tummies?

They normally get their first lot of pellets (6 each) at about 5:30pm-6pm, so i'll give them that a little earlier and perhaps an extra dose of herbs to tide them over, good idea Jen :D

And thank you ShazzaBunny

I'd bring them down to socialise with you if they still get free run in your house and make sure you and T are soing something really fun, are feeling relaxed, etc and he will yes, be scared, but will also pick up on how relaxed and chilled you are.

Yeah they are allowed back in the living room now, we finally managed to clear up the bombsite

We'll get them running around and keep the TV on also, maybe a little louder than usual to try and muffle bangs etc then, thanks

Someone needs to invent little bunny earmuffs or ear plugs.

Can you imagine a bunny with earmuffs?! How cute

How would that work for lops though? :?

And how would it work for bunnys like Ginger, who have one ear up, one ear down?  :?

I am pooping myself for tomorrow night now my buns and pigs are outside :( I had to bring Bruno and Welly in for an hour or so the other night as they were scared, and that was only a couple of fireworks. I live near the park who are having a full display :(

aww poor biscuit, my buns are actually ok - well they were last year, my dog o the other hand hates them and hes a quivering wreck. we have a display literally over the road in a school field soi ts VERY loud. :(

I've been using the shutters on my foster buns hutch & run all week as soon as it's dark and I'll continue to do so for the next week or so as there are always those who feel the need to stretch the event out further  I have two silver car windscreen covers which I wrap around the sides & front of the run so that the buns *feel* safer. At leaset that's the theory.

Buckley was freaking out last night so I turned the TV up, gave him some serenums, and he settled down next to me. He kept really close to me all evening so having them downstairs with you might help as they both might want to be near you.

Olly and Honey have always been scared of loud noises too, they have a radio in their room now which is on all evening every evening, I'm just turning it up louder for the fireworks which seems to help
Daisy and Digby have surprised me, they are outside, and when they first heard fireworks they both jumped a lot and were scared, but last night there were quite a lot going off and they seemed to have got used to it! both just sat there doing what they normally do!
I'm dreading tomorrow too though :(

I can suggest what other have, esp. the rescue remedy - Ibe used it and it worked really well and calmed my nerves when I had a dance exam and Id let them have the option of being with you guys in a relaxed environment and make it fun for them with perhaps a carboard castle or something for them to forage in and hopefully thier attention will be diverted...I def. think they pick up on our vibes....but then again some animals are just so very scared regardless..hope they will be ok...Im worried for mine too..

You could also try using Serene drops Gray, we used these once when our two had their first home visit and they were more relaxed and we also used them when we moved once and I believe it did help.
To be honest I think I may try using this as of today for our two when it comes to fireworks cause I know the louds ones are probably going to cause upset, we have a HUGE display about 5 mins away from our house on Sunday so that is going to be nerve wrecking.
