Maisie and Pringle - She's gone

Snowy

Wise Old Thumper
I think I am losing Maisie, I took her to the vet on Tuesday because she has gone downhill in the last week or so, she was eating well but appeared to be losing weight, Paula examined her and found one of her kidneys was enlarged and that she had in fact lost weight and muscle but we put that down to her disablility, since Tuesday she is not eating much at all and is very lethargic

Pringle is not too good either, he is starting to struggle when moving around, he won't leave Maisie and is continually grooming her, although he appears to be not so good either,

Such a worry

I am sorry to here that these two special Bunnies are not doing too well

I am sure that you will do everything possible for them xx

It's really hard because they are so very special, when they came to me Paula and the specialist vet who they were refered to gave them a life expectancy of 3-6 months because of their severe disabilities, that was in July 2009, so they are now just over 3 years old

It's breaking our hearts because I know if one goes the other won't cope because they help each other so much, I sat up with them through the night until 4am and Maisie is fading fast now, I really feel that I have got to do what is right and I am just gutted

I thought I could be strong but is killing me:cry:

It is hard to be strong all the time. At least you have a Vet whom you know you can trust. For me that makes a huge difference when faced with having to make very big decisions re a 'terminal' Rabbit.

xx

So sorry to hear this Theo. Sending peaceful vibes for them both, but also wishing for a miracle.

Thank you, this is just one of the hardest things ever and we still don't know what we are going to do, it's just an awful situation :cry::cry:

I am so sorry to hear this Theo - I am so very glad they came to you and I am sure little Walnut is watching over them.

God bless little bunnies, I will be thinking of you all xxxx

Oh thank you Sarah, they are still with us but they are fading, Maisie moreso than Pringle, I am just going to syringe her again and give them their meds

Will you please let Pat know?

At the moment we are praying for a miracle but they are getting very tired:cry: I am sure Walnut is watching them and he will be waiting for them so as they can all be together again

It's just awful, we are just so devastated at what's happening to them, they are both going downhill quite quickly and all they are doing is cuddling each other, Maisie is far worse than Pringle but he just won't leave her, not even to eat, I am syringing them but Maisie is so frail now, she is taking the syringing very well but I know we are on borrowed time

It's bad enough losing one bunny but for both of them to be so poorly together is just horrible, what on earth do we do if Maisie goes?

This is probably the worst situation ever .......... I really do ned a miracle

So sorry to hear about your bunnies. Lots of vibes, it sounds like they are in the best possible care and you have given them lives they could only ever of dreamed of.x.x.
