Rabbit show-jumping?!

Some rabbits love it! I know there is someone on here who's rabbits are great jumpers. And Pebbles would happily jump over little hurdles in the garden! But I wouldn't take mine to a competition in case of myxi/VHD.

On one hand I'd say this was rather good fun and exercise, perhaps to do in the garden without all the loud clapping noises :]

Yes me and a few others on the forum do it, it's very popular in sweden and other countries, not so popular in the UK but interest is growing. It's great exercise and my rabbits love it. Leads/harnesses are for safety purposes and I think Emma has some video's of Jasper (RIP) jumping by himself with no harness. It's not for every rabbit though, some will refuse to even go over a bar laying on the ground

I tried this with Finx, she did my homemade obstacle course once, but then proceeded to throw the hurdles (made of willow sticks and toilet roll tubes) in the air instead

Wow! What a huge jump in the video :D

My Beatrix is an amazing jumper, especially considering her size, and I have joked to a Scandinavian friend that she could do jumping - but B has caught snuffles from her housemate now :( , so it's unlikely.

And 2 at a show off lead to show they will jump if they want to and they aren't forced, i would have never forced him, he meant everything to me and when he didn't want to jump that was fine, I wasn't bothered just wanted what he wanted. :)

That's amazing! I honestly had never thought of it before, it really had me laughing (in a good way!)

Mouse would be fantastic at this!

aww you should give it a try :D

If you do, always start with low jumps, even just poles on the floor. When you actually have a jump hurdle, you need to make sure that the poles drop off at both sides when touched so that the buns don't hurt themselves. If you plan to use a harness and lead in the future for jumping I personally think it's best to start training without it (in a secure area) just to see if the bunnies like it and if they do they'll jump over happily, maybe even binky! That will give you the reassurance that Mouse enjoys it and if they're happy in a harness you can try jumping him/her wearing that. :thumb:

Check out www.youtube.com/rabbitjumping4you It's a youtube channel that me and some others on the forum set up to offer responsible rabbit jumping advice. :thumb:
