You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Advice on disinfecting a hutch after myxi. Does the virus survive on surfaces?

New Kit
Hi, can anyone advise me on disinfecting a hutch and run which housed myxi rabbits, who are sadly no longer with us. I have used jeyes fluid to kill off any viruses and will thoroughly wash off tomorrow. Shall I throw away water bottles, litter trays and get new ones? I habe thrown away toys and thrown away any opened bags of hay and treats. Does the virus survive on surfaces or in droppings? Im worried that i just cant pick up every dropping from the garden. Maybe it only survives in a host such as fleas etc. cant find information on the internet about the virus living on surfaces. Just wondered what anyone else has done in this situation before getting new buns. Thanks.

myxi is carried via biting insects so as long as there is no body fluids that could pass (i would just milton sterilise the bottles and bowls to be sure) then you should be fine its vhd that transfers on everything xx
