Our new adopted Eclectus parrot.

Lobo

Mama Doe
We adopted this girl today as unbelievably, no one came forward to claim her so she was put into rescue. She is about 3-4 years old and we have named her Aoife (ee-fa). It was not our first choice name but our avian vet persuaded us to call her that over Rosie or Lucy. He thought it really suited her and said she would be OK saying Rosie but Lucy would probably come out us Wucy.

The first picture was taken at a vet clinic and the last (poor quality) one when she came home. I did not want to stress her with flash so made do with bad lighting.

Eclectus are rather high maintenance with a specialised diet as can be seen from the bag of goodies from the vet. She does have a mild bacterial infection, hence the Clavulox.

Wow!! Shes really nice!! Now you can come and see us at parrot social...see link in my siggy!!

Very best wishes to her!

How long will it take her to know her new name?

She does talk already although we are yet to hear it until she settles in. We will listen to see if she says a name and will keep it if she does, otherwise she will be Aoife, but those looking after her for the past few weeks have not heard one called. She is a little rude though as she said to one of the vet nurses "hello d**k head*.

I have looked at your site but it was difficult to talk parrots after we lost our male eccy. It may be different now with the new girl but I also spend quite a bit of time on another forum for bluetongue skinks as we also have three of them.
