  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Twinkle back at the vets

Twinkle is just back from the vets. She has been doing well with her mucky bum due to the daily metacam. That is working brilliantly and she is clean and dry. I have been reducing her metacam dosage a bit at a time so that she has just enough to stay clean.

I noticed a couple of days she was dribbling (like she did last year). I upped her metacam back to her maximum dosage allowed and saw the vet today. She has an infection of some sorts in her gum so is on Septrin for two weeks.

The good news is she is now 1.65kg. She was 1.4kg before the daily metacam, but as I can now give her some muesli and it is not affecting her tummy she is putting on a bit of weight.

I hope the Septrin works - it smells nice - do bunnies like it normally?

EveryBun I have had on Septrin has loved it !! It tastes of Bananas

I hope it clears up her infection and that she continues to do well re her weight xx
