Having only recently seen my first myxo nodule I can sadly say that does look similar to what said bunny had.

But, there are other things that could cause the same initial presentation. I hope it's one of those.

Hoppit!

Oh God Jane. Is she is with other rabbits? It could be that somebun has bitten her, or maybe even a fly bite that's got swollen?

I'm 98% certain Pickles had nodular myxi. He had swellings at the base of each ear. We gave him a course of antibiotics and they just fell off, and he made a full recovery.

*squishes* Don't panic right now. It could be a few different things, and even if it is nodular myxo, then, depending on what you decided was best, it may not be the end of the world. I've recently been in the middle of a difficult myxo situation and I know that situation will be different from yours, but it may also give you an idea of different things, depending on what it is you're terrified of.

It is possible that it is an injury as about 3-4 days ago she had a scrabble through the wire mesh partition with Jessica. I did not detect any injury at the time, but maybe she got caught by one of Jessica's toenails ???

If it is Myxi then I assume it must be the chronic (nodular) form given that there are, as yet, no other symptoms at all. But as Bobbie could not be vaccinated I dont know if she could survive

And what about the other 29 Rabbits here. Whilst they ARE all vaccinated would it put them at risk if I attempted to treat Bobbie

I SHOULD KNOW THE BLOODY ANSWER TO THAT MYSELF but my brain has ceased to function...............

I have started Bobbie on Baytril and Metacam. I could call C, but it's Sunday evening and she had to work yesterday. All she could do is what I am doing.

I honestly feel like I have been hit by a ten ton truck

Thank you, there really is a chance that it is the result of an injury. It is not a small abscess though, it is solid and pink. No pus. Perhaps I missed it when I checked her over after the scrabble 3-4 days ago :?

sending vibes to you Jane

I dont know if it helps, but it looks very different to the one Daisy and Topsy had on their noses in the nodular form - that was all they had but it was a very hard nodule that didnt raise much from the skin if that makes sense and didnt look "boil" like in your pic.

The ones that poor Crunchie has are also very different to that on his nos e- again they are hard and are under the skin and has raised the skin and fur - not boil like....however he has a similar one on his ear. There is a chance it may just be a one off nodule like my two had if it is Myxo tho isnt it?

Sending vibes that in the morning there are no other symptoms xxx

Jane, nodular myxi is a long haul, but if bun is unvacs then it's not as bad as it could be. I had success treating a bun that had NEVER been vacs & my vet suggested previously that a bun who had been routinely vacs may have some immunity anyway

having (sadly) had three buns with myxi - each rather different from each other - PLUS several buns that have inflicted nose bite injuries on each other, I would say this looks far more like an injury that myxi. Myxi swelling when they first come up tend to look like a boil . . swollen and pink and sort of like they are swelling from underneath and cussng the skin to stretch.

You really are having a worrying time with your bunsters at the moment. It seems to be one anxiety after another - I was going to say I don't know how you cope, but I guess you cope because they're your family and you have to get on and get through it.

I had five unvaccinated buns all survive myxi - it is possible. The mark on Bobbie's nose looks different to the nodules my buns had, but even if it is myxi, all is not lost. My buns all wanted to fight - so we did. You have a fantastic vet and you are a brilliant nurse. If anyone can get Bobbie through myxi you can, but I am sending lots and lots of non myxi vibes.

Bobbie still absolutely fine, no other symptoms so far

Trying to hold on to the hope that the lump is the result of an injury from Jessica's nail

I personally haven't have a bunny with myxi, thank goodness, but when Hawthorn (Parsnipbun's bunster) had it last year I helped look after him where I could. His mate, Robinia, stayed with him the whole time, the logic being that it can't be transmitted from bun to bun. I know that the previous year Mistletoe Snowgoose stayed with Viola Rose when she had myxi.

I know it's not any consolation, but I thought I should say it, just in case it eases the worry for your other buns.

Her being bright today is a really good sign, and learning that she had a scuffle is a "surprisingly" good thing to hear! I really hope it's just a nick from a nail!!

Laura says that she thinks that it is UNLIKELY to be Myxi. She said she cant be 100% certain, but the 'nodule' does not look like a Myxi one and certainly fits more with a slightly infected scratch injury, the result of the scrabble with Jessica.

Bobbie is to remain on Baytril and Metacam and we just have to wait and see. I am still worried, but slightly less so than last night.

How on earth people can knowingly not vaccinate a healthy Rabbit and put them at risk of such a vile, evil, deadly disease is beyond me. The total sickening fear that occurs when you think a Myxi out break has occurred is just awful.

PLEASE VACCINATE YOUR RABBITS IF THERE IS NO VALID REASON NOT TO

Bobbie is the only one here now who cannot be vaccinated. I really dont know if I will get her done if she gets the all clear from this scare. She always gets a dreadful flare up of her chronic Pasteurella after vaccinations.

I dont know as usually if it's full blown Myxi the lumps are the last symptom to appear I think. As Bobbie could not be vaccinated I would have thought she would get full blown Myxi and thus have the swollen eyes/genitals/ears etc BEFORE any nodules.

I just have to keep hoping it is not the evil virus.
