Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

cause for wet eyes/mouth besides dental issues

bunny mad lisa

Hi
I have a bunny who has cancer and since she has been diagnoised she has had a runny eye. i thought it might be the anisthetic. It has now worsened and it was flushed on friday and the vet said its not infected. It is worse still now and she alos has a wet mouth and chin it seems. i wonder if this is from the eye. She is 7 and has never suffered from dental issues. Shes eating well although a little slower. She has also lost a bit of weight which could be the cancer.

All symptom would indicate dental issues but with her having terminal cancer i do wonder if it could be related in some way as I did have a bunny with bulging eyes who suffered a tumour in his chest.

My dilema is do i have her teeth checked? she has had 2 ops in the lat month for lump removals so i don't want to put her through more stress as her life expectancy is already very short...any ideas?

Could be tooth root elongation

It is not unusual for a 7 year old Rabbit to develop Dental problems even if they have never had issues before.

well after 2 days drooling she is dry this morning! has eaten all her food overnight. But this morning she wouldn't eat so have given her infacol incase she has eaten too much as i put alot in and also a dose of metacam to see if that helped her. After 3 hours she is now eating hay although slowly! just can;t figure it out! off to the vet tomorrow but i'm sure she;ll be as puzzled as me but hope a good check over may shed some light.
