Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Wild mice in Hutch.. Not good, I suspect.

Hi All
Lancelot's cage had the large gapped black steel mesh as supplied. I started finding mice droppings in his cage, and actually caught some in there. I covered the existing mesh with mesh with 10mm x20mm mesh, but the little ******* still got in.
I have now got 10mm x10mm mesh on his cage, and that seems to have stopped them.
Question, should I be worried about health issues. He has been clear of mice for about a month now, so should he be ok?

I remember years ago, one of our childhood rabbits had a mouse in her cage. She had been a breeding rabbit (mum had rescued her) and wouldn't bond with the other two bunnies. When my mum eventually caught the mouse, Rosie the rabbit grieved for her:( My mum felt awful as she had made her a nest and was treating it like a kit. She was fine afterwards and came to no harm...not an ideal situation by any means though:shock: (This is going back nearly 30 years now though:oops:)

I imagine your rabbits will be fine given the lengths you have gone to to stop them coming in. They do carry diseases, mites nd worms that could possibly transfer to your rabbit so I think you are right to have shut them out.
