Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Grayson was castrated on the 3rd oct!

and since then has become a little :censored: but he was previously a she, and didnt show any sign of hormones apart from spraying, he was so so calm and gental and now is mental!

Could his hormones have kicked in now because they found his testies or is this normal, for the 6 weeks post neut??

I really hope this is not him for the ret of his life, or theirs no way he can stay inside :(

You know, I vaguely remember some of mine being more active when they got neutered last year. :? Not naughty, just more active.

Maybe he'll calm down?

It can take a few weeks post neuter/spay for hormones to even themselves out. I would imagine with a little confused bunny like Grayson it might be even more so! My betting is he'll calm down given time xxxxx

My friend has a rabbit who was castracted the same day as yours. She said he was a cuddle monster for a few days but now he has become a little asbo bunny. So I think it's maybe just him settling after the procedure.

Exactly the same as Dillon

I was just going to post a similar thread! Dillon was castrated on the same day as your Grayson, with the same exact problem, thought he was a girl then they found retained testicles. He never showed any hormonal behaviour at all before the op, didn't even spray or anything only thing he did was circle your feet and honk when it was feeding time. This morning though he's been trying to hump the draught excluder and has started chewing a lot more than he was, doesnt sound as bad as Grayson is being, but there has been a definite change in his behaviour and we are minus a small piece of wallpaper now lol

I'm glad I'm not the only one!! Lol asbo bun is defo the right name also rabbit on speed comes to mind!!

He's had a hugeeee surge of energy/hormones!!

It does take a while for the hormones to completely leave the system so this is normal. Every animal is different too-some will retain a bit of this mad behaviour, others not.

I agree that the weather has alot to do with things. I find that in early Spring (mad March hare time) my males often get hormonal and do humping, mounting etc when for the rest of the year there's nothing. Can be quite shocking but explained by more light.

This behaviour could also be explained possibly by boredom? Ensure there's plenty of toys, loo rolls filled with hay, the balls you can put food in etc, lots of tunnels and things to do. This may help.

Distract him and give it a bit more time and I'm sure he'll calm down. Castration only deals with hormones though, not naughtyness and naughty bunnies are perfectly normal-if hard work!! Make sure your bunny proofing of cables and unsuitable edibles-plants etc is top notch as it sounds as though he's getting more adventurous and exploring more. Just check and check again-best to be sure.

Hi, I can't believe this but I posted the other day about my boy too. He was castrated on sep 26 and has turned into a little demon lol, he has used the sofa as a litter tray which has not gone down well to say the least:shock: and before op he was perfect with all wees and poops!! He is now very closely supervised and not allowed on the sofa;) I think he has arrived at his teenage stage after reading my replies. Keep in touch it will be good to compare asbos
