Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Bandaging a front paw u/d not sure what else to try

Buzzybunny

Young Bun
Woody is recovering from a small cut on his front paw; its healing well (good clean scab) and not infected but he's been licking it a lot and has managed to wear off most of the fur (he's a rex so there's not much to start with). I'm worried the loss of fur is going to prevent things from healing up properly and lead to a full-blown sore hock.

I've read that you can pad bald paws with moulted fur and then bandage them to help protect them but I'm not sure if it's possible or advisable to bandage a front paw. Does any one have any experience with this?

Thanks!

Right, it seems bandaging isn't going to work!

Went to the vet last night to discuss and on re-examining his foot she said it looked inflamed so poor Woody's on Baytril and Metacam. She attempted a bandage to help break the over grooming habit but it didn't last 5 minutes!

Not sure what to do to try and give his foot some relief. Am keeping both buns inside (they usually go out in a run during the day). Hopefully if his paw stays clean and dry he'll be less tempted to groom it.
