  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

which shampoo?

Is he just needing a bath cos he is firty or is his skin at all inflammed?

If he is just dirty then i have used johnsons no more tears baby shampoo before. If the skin is inflammed then i use water with a small amount of iodine in.

I have used pet shop shampoos all my life, I have never bought a fancy online one, and I've had no problems. I like this one...

And have also used this one

The P@H's own one smells YUMMY!

Thanks Sarah :) I might not be able to get any that aren't from a pet shop so thanks for the links. :)

well his fur is quite dirty, stained and he has some matts which he cannot get out as he has no front teeth to sort them out. :( I'm wanting to clean down there and hopefully comb them out. Don't want to cut them off as they are on his legs and too close to his skin. As winter's coming up I don't want him losing any fur as he's thin as it is.

Thank you :)
