Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Bunny has started snoring - have I poisoned her? :(

thursday

Young Bun
Hello everyone,

Thank you so much for your helpful comments. I'm very sorry I didn't come back earlier to update you

The good news is that the snoring has stopped, and the vet has given both of them the all clear.

So the problem was literally just a snoring noise, when the bunnies were very relaxed or asleep. There was no discharge around the eyes, nose or mouth; she's not a dental bun (both of them have good teeth despite the fact that they don't chew *anything* except hay. This also makes them perfect house bunnies :D).

I mentioned the snoring to the vet when they went in for their jabs. He gave them a good listening to, and said that they were fine. We had the good bunny vet as well, so I am confident that they have had a good check up. He said it could have been that the fumes inflamed something, but that it wasn't causing lasting damage.

All the painted items have been banished to the garage, and so I suspect that this is why the snoring has stopped. We do actually need these shelves, but we're going to investigate different sorts of paint, or perhaps getting them painted elsewhere, before we bring them back into the house.

Thanks again for all your help :D
