Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Myxo vaccine help

New Kit
Hello newbie here. I recently required a rabbit who was unable to stay with its owner. It wasn't vaccinated so I took her to the vets today to be done for myxo. After looking on the internet after I don't think she did the other part of the vaccine that goes just under the skin?

She did it all in the scruff of the neck and didn't change needle or anything so does this mean she definitely didn't do it or can they do it on the way in or out?

They can do the 10% intradermal bit on the way in or out. If you are worried just give them a call and check.

You might not notice them do it but, if in doubt, I would call them to make sure as Amy said. :)

Some vets prefer to do the intradermal part in the ear but it's also possible to do it at the same time as the rest of the injection into the scruff and, chances are, you wouldn't notice them do it.

Sometimes they do the last part whilst they are removing the needle, you might notice they pause for just a couple seconds and that usually means they are delivering the last part into the skin. Only a few vets actually do it into the ear.
