Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

how long to keep a rabbit in after neutering?

New Kit
my female rabbit is getting neutered on monday morning

I know I need to keep her indoors for a few days, to check she is eating, pooing and her wound is ok etc

Ive only had her 3weeks, and shes skittish round human contact.

Shes outdoors in a hutch at the moment, gets free run of the garden every day.

How long should I keep her in house before its safe to put her back in hutch and let her run around the garden again?

Dont want her doing any damage to herself:oops:

hmm personally from my experience I would say about a week! but every bun is different my Matilda took awhile to gt going afterwards, im sure someone else will b able to tell u :)

I would say about a day or two after she is acting normal, so eating fine, pooing fine, etc.

I would confine her space for about a few days after she gets her stitches out - and usually that happens at day 10 post op.

You want to be careful moving her inside and out due to the difference in temperature though.
