The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Fur loss mystery....

Sue&Smokes

Young Bun
Hi,

I came in this afternoon and noticed that one of my bunnies has got about a square inch underneath her chin without any fur on it!!

I immediately looked round to see if I could see any fur lying about the floor somewhere but I can't see any of it anywhere. My initial thoughts then were maybe she's plucked it out herself, but if she did, I still don't what has happened to all the fur, unless she has maybe swallowed it.

She's acting pretty normally though, eating okay uptil now, I'm just a bit baffled by it though. She has on occasion acted a bit hormonal and has collected a few bits of hay in her mouth as if she was going to build a nest, but it's nothing like she did prior to being spayed.

I'm hoping she stays well, but if there is anything else I should check for, please could you let me know. The only other time I had a rabbit pluck fur off like this was when she was ill and I think it was pain related, but this bun is fine and is acting like her normal self...

Thanks!!

I actually have the same with Mischa. He has a beard, residual from head tilt and it looks like the folds of skin are rubbing the fur away. I'm going to speak to my vet about it when he's due his next vaccs beginning of next month.
