Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Xenex Ultra Spot On Problems..

During a recent trip to the vets I asked what would be the best thing to use on ben for flystrike, and they sold me xenex.

Ben has had 3 treatments of xenex so far and he hates it! I applied it 3 days ago and he is still attacking his bottom and back of his neck where it was applied, and I am worried he may have gotten it all off.

Also, Im not totally sure whether this is the case or not, but his skin is showing on his neck and it looks sligtly pinikish, as though either the xenex has aggrivated him or has has by pulling at his fur.

Has anybody else come across this with using this product?

If anybody could recommend something different to try (possibly a spray that is just as effective) that would be a huge help :)

I would suggest using the search function on the forum. There are loads of threads with people seeing bad reactions on their bunnies and generally I would always say never to use it; there are other products available.

Why does he need something for rearguard? Have you looked into RearGuard?

Hi,

Thank you, I didn't think of searching, will have a look now.

My vet said to use it, he's my first bun and they said it would treat him for fly strike and that it was very good.

What would you recommend?

Thanks :)

It can cause skin irritation at the application site can look sort of like a burn depending on the severity of reaction I personally don't recommend it as I have seen a few bus that have reacted at my practice.
