    Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

    You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

    Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Orange wee?

NanooNanoo

New Kit
Hey,

My bunnies wee has always been darkish in colour, though I put some of it down to the newspaper in the bottom of the tray, but never dark orange like it was today. Is that okay or something I need to take them to the vet for?

Thank you.

have you been feeding carrot by any chance? :lol:

You only need to worry if wee is constantly chalky (indicates a diet too high in calcium) or if there is blood in it :)

As I was told, blood dries brown and not orange. Mine always have orange/pink/red wee. I've given up worrying and put it down to the shavings dying the newspaper and what they manage to snatch when bombing around the garden.

hehe!:lol::oops:
well I have to say I'm glad that I'm embarrassed and not worried!
Thank you for your help. They've not had carrot, but they did have pear tree, perhaps it's that!

Have to say, rabbits united is awesome! I don't know what I'd do without it at times like this! :love:

I know, it is good. Most of the good things in Barney's life are because of RU :love:

By the way, Im sure I asked the same question before and felt a right wally when someone pointed out it was the carrot :oops: so youre not alone!
