Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Runny eyes?

Went to give the bunnies breakfast and clean out this morning and there had obviously been some sort of scuffle in the night and there had been some fur pulling and Fudge has had runny eyes today! Is this something to worry about? Have been thinking that maybe some fur has been pulled from around her eyes that has caused this? They are not red or swollen and there is no broken skin on either of them. Are they ok to be left together tonight? :( Thankyou

Without being able to see them its impossible to say if the runny eyes are a result of an injury sustained during the scuffle or something else.

If they are still runny then a Vet check is needed as a scratch to the actual eyeball can develop into a corneal ulcer if left untreated.

If they still appear to be unsettled then it may be a good idea to move them to a small neutral territory to try to repair their bond

Thankyou I will see what they are like again tomorrow, I was thinking of a scratch to the eye but they look fine apart from the wet fur around the eye and its both eyes :? They have been fine together today so I am hoping it was just a one off.

It could be a variety of things. My Mischa has had runny eyes twice this year, the first time it was conjunctivitis related to snuffles, the second time a tear duct infection. If it carries on I would definitly take her to the vets.

Thankyou her eyes look dry this morning and it looks like they had a settled night as everything is where I left it :) will keep a check on her eyes through the day though. Thankyou

ETA: Just been to have another look at her and they look wet again

Awww Gizmo has had a runny eye in the past a couple of times when he's been a bit run down, I've bathed it with cooled boiled water and dried thoroughly for 24 hours with the intention of a vet check but he's perked up, some dill might be beneficial to boost the immune system, any kind of discharge like milky or gunky is an immediate vet check though

Thankyou they arent gunky or milky its just the fur around her eyes looking wet. I tried to bathe them but she wasnt having any of it, she just wanted to hide from me :( She doesnt look as wet around the eyes as she did earlier and she seems happy, eating, drinking and playing.
