Jemimah is refusing to eat, I'm so worried :-(

Jaysmonkey

Wise Old Thumper
My little fluffy moomin Jemimah won't eat. She was fine last night, this morning I checked her over as I knew she was off, she wasn't interested in brekkie or treats or anything :(. I gave her a small dose of metacam and maxalon. After 2 hours she wasn't so I've taken her to the vet. It's suspected she has cystitis or a UTI so she's now on baytril as well as vetergesic. She still won't eat, I'm trying banana, apple, normal veges, hays, herbs, treats of all kinds and dried forage that I can get. Nothing, just nothing :(.

Mimah has never been poorly before and I'm so worried, she's such a delicate and dainty little bunny and I'm so scared for her. I will be critical care feeding her if she doesn't start nomming soon. She's dropped normal sized poos but her urine is darker than usual.

Please can we have some vibes for my little eggy.

Thank you RU

Aww the poor little love! :(
They are both beautiful!
Did the vet give her a gut stimulant?
Have you tried the mushy pellets? Herbs? Digestive Biscuit?

Oh huge, huge vibes for little Jemimah and hugs for you. Thank goodness you got her to the vet so quickly and if she doesn't start eating again fairly quickly, I am sure you will take her back again. Thinking of you and hoping it won't be long before she gets back to normal. x

No, the vet didn't I have maxolon (metaclopramide) and zantac here so I can give that myself, she already had some this morning administered by me, but it hasn't taken effect yet :(

I haven't tried digestive biscuit no, I will give it a go. I did mush banana on her front paws so she had to wash it off though...

Thank you xx

Sometimes the meds can take a while to kick in, give it a little while and hopefully she will pick up or maybe it will take another dose later on to get her in to working order.
Digestive biscuit is always my emergency food with Jimby if he stops eating. Hope it works!
 I bet she was not impressed having sticky bananna on her paws!

Thank you, thankfully our vet wasn't busy and we just rang expressing how we thought the matter was urgent. Sadly though the rabbit specialist wasn't available, but the vet was knowledgable enough. I'm just thankful I have all the supplies at home already. They took her temperature too and it was 37.6 which she said was a little lower than it should be. We have an appointment for 9.20am tomorrow to check on her and retake her temperature, of course I'll take her back sooner if required.

I just want her to eat, I don't want to overcrowd or over fuss her, but it's hard not to. I'm trying to give her a time out where she may come around and eat. I'm positive she'll do it, it's just the wait :(

Thank you very much xx

Oh no! She tried boxing it off, didn't work though bless her, she had to lick it off or face being a sticky bunny! ;) My plan worked at least. The lady in Sainsbury's thought I was crazy this morning, I went in and bought one banana..my bill was 9p. I have lots of stuff just for some reason we had no bananas. :?

I'll keep you all updated, I do hope the meds kick in soon, it's just waiting :(

Thank you xx

Has she been given some chance to exercise this morning? Snowdrops tumym slows down dramatically if she isnt given a few hours free ranging every day.

Does she have access to fresh grass? When Snow doesnt eat pellets she will often have a nibble at grass on the garden.

Another thing Snow will eat when she isnt eating anything else is some luke warm porrige made with warm water and banana mashed in.

Hi, she's had exercise in the house, she's a housebun so I only like her to go out in the garden on the grass when it's warm and dry, it's currently chucking it down here :(.

Thank you for all the advice. I'll try the porridge and banana a little later. I just managed to get her to eat dill by persistently annoying her with it in her face, she ate it out of annoyance, but it's in her tummy now :thumb:

Thank you guys xxx

I hope she improves. Have you tried syringing water into her? I find hydration is the only thing that keeps Pie going.
All the best to little 'Moomin' (I love that you cal her that! So sweet!)

Hey :)

She's perked up a little, currently running around the living room. She's not eaten much but has nibbled some dill and a little hay. She's alot more bright-eyed and assertive. Thank you for the vibes everyone :) xxx

Hope your little girl improves, she's very cute. Ted had a couple of bouts of stasis in fairly quick succession, the vet told us to mix some porridge oats with hot water, let it cool then syringe off the oaty water and syringe it into him. We left some of the oat mix on a small plate as well, on both occassions he started eating again and was fine so although I don't know if it was down to this there's nothing to lose by trying it.
