  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Nala seems scared.

Nala lives in shed with a run attached, although she gets freedom of garden, supervised for at least 3/4 hours everyday.
About 10 days ago OH went down to garden and found next doors kitten sitting staring through run, Nala staring back. OH chased the kitten.
Have noticed that Nala is not coming out into the run as often as she did, but sitting inside looking out cat flap. Today, we really had a struggle to even get her out into the garden.
She is eating ok, toileting ok and drinking....do you think she has been scared by cat.....any suggestions how to keep cats out of garden.
Have noticed that she is also making a nest in the hutch inside the shed....presume another false pregnancy.
Don't want to take her to vet, as there doesn't seem to be any real problem health wise. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Maybye you could keep your rabbit inside for a little while an see if she calms down. If she doesn't then there could be a little problem but you should keep her in for at least 2 weeks for her to realise there is no cats wondering about :)

JUst my idea

I think any change is behaviour is worth a vet trip. I saw something similar with one of mine recently and it appears he is starting with arthritis.

For keeping cats out of the garden maybe try those things that go on top of fences and cats can't stand on them? They are like rubber spikes. You likely won't be able to keep them out, to be honest.
