Destructo bun

Rachel89

Mama Doe
I now have a half eaten bed leg, wardrobe nd wall. Dohhhh.
He's got a sectioned off bit with his cage in but he's eating everything through the sodding bars lol, he's got lots of toys but no interest in them lol.
Seen some no chew spray thongs, do they work?

I doubt they will work. In my experience they tend to chew out of boredem, frustration or craving for fibre.

Does bunny have some willow/apple/pear stick toys to play with, and plenty of room?

Could he/she be craving fibre? Is he/she eating enough hay, or showing signs of a slow gut?

When I moved my buns into a smaller room, even though they still had over rwa standard sqft of accommodation, one of them became a monster for destroying things. Now they are back in a bigger space it has stopped :)

Wasn't sure if they would, have one for the ponies stable and she ends up chewing it more

He has freerange of my room and hallway from 6-midnight then has a dogcrate with a 5ft pen.

He eats tonnes of hay and has lots of sticks and wooden chew toys etc although doesn;t ay much attention,.

He had a full vet check monday morning before we decided to def take him on and hes very healthy.

Only thing wondering is he was kept in a guineapig cage and never let out if this may be the reason now hes got room hes deciding to destroy everything

He may need more things to entertain him. If he was in a small cage before, he may have destroyed things out of boredem and its become a habit.

How big in square foot is his permenant area? as he's in it for most of the day. I would see if you can bunny proof any furniture in the room, and maybe the walls as well, then let him have permenant free-range. Is that possible?

Does he have a hay rack to increase the time he spends getting hay and make it more interactive? You could also try these to make it more interesting:

You could also try giving his pellets in a treat ball. ANd some in the middle of a cardboard tube stuffed with hay. Just things to keep him busy and keep his mind off it. Maybe a digging box as well?

It can be expensive, but I find these in large: http://www.petsathome.com/shop/woodlands-small-pet-play-sticks-15931 really help when used to cover an area that is chewed a lot, as they chew the sticks instead. I use them for corners of the room or wardrobe.
