Alpha Buck
On Saturday our gorgeous boy Harvey passed away aged seven after his little body gave up on him. He’d been wobbly for a couple of days but was much worse by Saturday so we took him to the vet where he had a steroid injection. His appetite remained excellent so we felt quite positive. She advised us to get him home, put him out in the run and let him nibble the grass, then in 48 hours he could have another injection. However on getting him home he already seemed to be leaving us. He could barely move and showed no interest in food, even his favourites, so I attempted to syringe feed him but he wouldn’t or couldn't chew or swallow. Within an hour he slipped away whilst we were with him, stroking him as he took his last breaths. I can’t believe how quickly it happened.
Harvey had some problems in his life but bravely coped with all of them. We adopted him when he was three and shortly after he developed cataracts in one eye, then the other leaving him completely blind. Just before he went blind we bonded him with Daisy, an older lady. They were inseparable from that moment. He would spend ages grooming her, cleaning her ears and eyes and he would never get anything in return! Being blind never hindered him, he could still find his way around and sniff out his food bowl very quickly! He was such an affectionate bunny and loved nothing more than a stroke and a cuddle. Everyone who met him fell in love with him, and who can blame them with those looks? He looked more and more like an old teddy bear as the years passed.
The house feels empty without him and we miss him greatly
Binky free Harvey – we love you xx
A little video of him pretending to be ferocious with his favourite bed.
