  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

hi first time post on this site. i recently brought 2 baby lionheads from a breeder who said they were 6 and a half weeks old 2 little boys. that was six dayss ago they have only been feed pellets and hay and have plenty of water. yesterday(friday 29th) while i was at work my wife rang to say that dominoe had a large clump of soft poo all over his backside and really smealt. so we took him straight to the vets where they said it may be a tummy bug or something like that and gave us some medicine and liquid fibre and some probiotic for there water.this was at about 4oclock yesterday. so today i go to work get back and the wife says dominoe is looking much better that he had his medicine and loved it. so now to the point at about 3 oclock today my daughter comes in and says theres something wrong with him when i go to look he is lying on floor on his back looking up i go to pick him up and he just rolled over and over like he couldnt stand up so .so i got him inside in a soft blanket and he a large glump of smelly poo betwwen his legs and he kept his head arched right back. so onto emergency vets. half way there checked in the box he was in and he was dead. buried him in our garden about hour ago.kids were crying wife was crying i was upset so what went wrong and will jet his brother who has shown no signs of illness be ok
