  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Appetite or teeth issues

Do rabbits have varying appetites? My lot go mad for their tea and eat tons of hay. I have a bun boarding with me at the minute and she seems to eat very little. Should I recommend that they have her teeth checked next time they are at the vet or do some rabbits just not eat as much as others. Her poops are very small and hard.

Dylan some days will not eat her pellets for love nor money, but if i leave them, she'll just at some point decide to eat them all. Other times she'll snatch my hand off for them. So odd :?

All of my rabbits have ripped your arm off for food. Anytime they haven't then there has been something wrong with them, healthwise.

This is the same with mine. She seems to eat grass okay and I've tried her with my hay as I thought she may not have been fussed on the hay her owners provided but it hasnt made a difference.

I'd definately suggest getting her teeth checked.

When Tinkerbell went off pellets and became fussy with different greens, I just thought she had gone off them.

A few weeks later she developed a huge jaw abscess. Always best to things checked out.
