Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Panacur or not before being left at boarding

Hi all

I wormed Casper and Charlie with Panacur in March this year. I was wondering is it necessary to do them again before I leave them with the boarding lady at the end of next week when I go on hols.

Will they be covered or would it be safer to do them again?

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Jo

I don't routinely worm but if you are worried and they will be in close proximity to unknown bunnies it would probably be more benefiticial to do a course after they've been in boarding as opposed to before.

Thanks for that. I never thought to do it afterwards. They will be with unknown buns and also on the grass too so just don't want them to catch anything.

Then I'd probably do a 28 day course after they've been away.

My understanding (and to be honest I find it a bit confusing) is that you can't really prevent EC just treat it so by doing it afterwards you'll be riding them of any nasties if they were unfortunate enough to come into contact with it.

I give all new buns a one off course as a lot of buns carry it so it helps rid them of it and protect my existing bunnies. I then would only retreat if they displayed symptoms.
