Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Thank You :o)

Hello guys,

I came on yesterday with a thread regarding me losing my rabbit and you were all SOOO kind - so thank you so much!

I have a question regarding Topsy (she is my rabbit left behind)! I have been sleeping downstairs with her and trying to make her feel less lonely and she seems ok? Now dont get my wrong I dont want her to be sad but why isnt she?? She is eating lots, I have got all her fave stuff and she seems content and grooming lots! I am crying all the time and she is being so brave - do I need to do anything to help her? What would anyone in this situation advise please as I love her so much and let Thumper down - dont want the same to happen again xxxxx

so sorry for you loss, it is one of the worse things to have to deal with when you loose a much loved pet.

i wouldn't be too woried about Topsy. it is good she isn't fretting or pining and i think all bunnies are different in how they deal with it.

i had Dorothy and Eli together and when i lost Eli, Dot just got on with it, she was alone for 7 months before i got her another companion in Buddy. yet when Dot died poor Buddy was in a very bad way, he wasn't eating hardly and didn't move, he just sat in the same place and i had to get Maisie 3 days later as i was so worried about him but he showed little interest in her for a few days, my vet said he was still mourning Dot. :(

we lost Maisie unexpectedly a year ago and i went straight out and got Blousy and Lula, more for him than me.. and he was fine.
just keep giving Topsy lots of attention and be happy she isn't pining too badly. :)
