Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Poo issues

Hi all

Just been out to see the buns and there is a massive mishapen poo alongside a massive clump of caecotrophs in the run. I think it is Charlie as this seems to be an ongoing problem with him. I have been to the vets numerous times, and even taken him to a different vets for second opinion, they brush it off and say there is nothing wrong with him and that rabbits sometimes do this.

This is what I feed the pair of them:

1 eggcupfull of pellets that they share in the morning

Unlimited hay all day

They go out on the grass for a couple of hours each evening

Bedtime they get more fresh hay sprinkled with a handful of dried herbs and a fenugreek crunchie each.

Then every other night I give them fresh herbs.

Should I cut out the treats and herbs and just stick them on a hay only diet for a while to see if it clears?

They are fit and healthy otherwise, their other poos that they do are big golden poos.

Any help would be appreciated!

maybe swop the herbs out for spring greens or different veg? or give a smaller amount (sorry i dont know how much veg you are giving) but i would sya as long as they are eating their caecotrphs so getting vitamins its not a big worry the mishapen poops arelike what? are they sticky or messy or just larger or random shape? you could always add a small piece of pinnapple (fresh) to ease any fur clumps in case this is waht is causing the misshapes?

just re read the herbs are every other night.... i wouldnt worry too much it all sounds fine if rest of poops are golden and big x
