Worried about Smoo. Am I being paranoid? UD/still worried

Jenova

She seems a little 'off'. :(

She had a little bit of a sore eye. Right by the tear duct was a little red and I thought she'd either scratched it when itching or got a bit of hay in it. I had some antibiotic eye drops so I gave her those for a few days and gave her metacam on the first day to ease any swelling or pain. Her eye looks absolutely fine now. That's not what's worrying me but I thought I'd mention it in case it's important.

She seems less obsessed with food. She is usually so obsessed I actually worried about how bad she is with it. I had to feed Grimlock separately and she would run in as soon as the door opened to practically inhale anything he's left. But now she's eating her fill and leaving the rest. She is still eating though. Pellets, hay, veg and fruit. Just not as obsessively. I fed Grim in the hutch today and there was food left which she hasn't eaten. She just doesn't seem quite as enthusiastic about food, but is eating fine.

I'm going to London tonight and will be back tomorrow night so my OH and my brother are looking after the pets. They have strict instructions to keep an eye on her. Then I'll get her into the vets on Friday I think if she's no better. But I don't know if she's just calmed down or it's too hot for her to get so excited... I hope I'm just being paranoid.

Honestly? Trust yourself.

If she is 'off' then you have to trust that and then it's a case of working out why, and that could be such a wide variety of reasons, not necessarily health- although health is obviously something you know needs checking.

But weather, environment, changes in her life, etc, all could do it, so don't panic, just stay aware and get her checked out. :)

We wanted to keep the back door open so I have been teaching the rabbits that they can come into the kitchen but not the rest of the house. I just did it like they were dogs and pushed them back into the kitchen with body language when they came into the front room. Now they usually come into the kitchen in the late afternoon and will just sit by the door which is amazingly cute so part of me thinks I've trained her to calm down. :?

She wasn't allowed in the kitchen at all before as that's where Grim ate.

I think if I'm still not happy on Friday I'll get her booked in. it's just worth the peace of mind.

my lot sometimes get sore bits in the tear duct bit not on the tear dust, i find its from crusty stuff they get after sleeping

also Matilda is not as obsessed with her food either! she used to scoff a bowl until its gone! but now she will have food in it most the day!

is smoo moulting? cos Matilda is, maybe its connected x

It was a bit weird...

When I got back from London she was really happy and binkying and begging for treats. I thought she was back to normal. She was lying flat on her stomach this morning but this evening as she went to lie down on her stomach she thumped and got up. Then she did it again. I'm worried her stomach might hurt. So I'm going to take her to the vets. They're only open for a couple of hours tomorrow so I'm just hoping there is a rabbit savvy vet in.

What do you think it could be? She's been 'off' for almost a week. She's still active and still eating. It could be her teeth, gas or a blockage in her stomach. :?

Well this morning she came to greet me in the way only a Smoo can. She moves forwards with her front legs but her back legs stay still until she is lying completely on her stomach with her back legs behind her. This is something she does all the time, but it meant she was lying completely on her stomach. And then I changed the litter trays and hid some plantain and pellets in there and she was straight in to eat everything. And then I fed Grim his medicine on bread and she was hounding me like normal to try and get some. So she seems fine again. :?

I've decided to wait until Monday to take her to the vets. Today it's a first come first serve thing so not only would I possibly have had to wait for hours but there would have been no guarantee of getting a rabbit savvy vet. And if there is something up with her I think I need a specialist to tell me. The worst thing would be to stress her out taking her today, for a vet to tell me she's fine and then have to take her back again. Hope it's the right decision.
