I noticed a few weeks ago that Bunny had some discharge around his bottom area. It's sort of crusty and stinky . At first I thought it was stuck poos and tried to get it off, but couldn't. I asked my vet about it she said it was from his scent gland, and lots of bunnies get this. She says sometimes if the bun isn't stressy, she will pick it off, but usually it returns. Bunny isn't very good at being held, and panics easily, so we left it.
I tried to get it off myself again at home, but it is really stuck in, and the skin is so thin there that I didn't want to worry it too much. Even with a warm flannel, it wouldn't come out. It doesn't seem to bother him at all, and the vet wasn't worried about it, so I have left it.
Is this ok, or should I make more effort to get this off? Should I be doing this regularly? I haven't noticed this with my other buns, just little Bunny.
