Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

still got tinted wee

Hi, me again. It's now Friday and there still is an obvious colour - red/pink - to bunnies' wee. They last had a carrot on either Monday or Tuesday so I was hoping that someone is going to say that yes the carrot's strong colour may still be affecting the wee because they're still quite young. Don't know which bunny is weeing coloured wee; could be both. Both girls' bits aren't discoloured around them, fur is clean so they're not bleeding per se. We will have had bunnies 2 weeks tomorrow and are working they're around 8 weeks old by now (I think they're a bit older; 8 weeks is the minimum they are). I won't be giving them carrot again for a while, just to be on safe side. Any suggestions would be appreciated :)

ps - both bunnies are fine in themselves - playing, eating, drinking, being nosey, sleeping.

I'm not sure how long it takes to get out of their system. True blood in urine is pretty rare but if you are still worried you can get your vet to do a dip stick test.

Thank you Karen M - I'll try that :)

Thinking about it, the newspaper has been dyed orange, so the chances are it's the weeds/grass, but I'll do the kitchen paper thing too. Just gotta sit and wait for them to pee now!
