Vinyl and lino are pretty much the same thing - most of the flooring you find in carpet places etc will be vinyl.
(I think 'technically' linoleum flooring is different but people tend to use the two words interchangeably.)

Some lino is highly polished/shiny, and much more slippery. The lino marketed for bathrooms/kitchens tends to be non-slip for safety reasons.
I dont know whether it is relevant, but one plus side I find with lino, even though mine are house rabbits it is on the kitchen floor, Jasper tends to go lie on it when it is warm as it stays cooler. So this may help with the hot weather as well if you have a nice shaded bit.
