  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

help can any one please?

New Kit
my female rabbit has had 4 babies they all seem well and are now 2 weeks old but 2day i noticed bumble the mum has a large lump on her belly iit is not her nipples it is in the center it is pink maybe due to not having fur covering it so could be skin colour but seems to hang she want let me touch it at all.
she is very friendly licks all the time but has never liked being picked up and i never do as she walks her self in and out of a carry case although this has made it very hard for me to inspect her belly further. also the few times i have seen her feed her young i notice she does not lay down to let them suckle she is sitting on back legs and letting them feed, is this normal? what is this lump???

It could be something like a hernia or an abscess. I'd advise you to make a vet appointment for her asap. Good luck, and I hope it turns out to be something easily treatable :)
