I'm starting Bluebell on depocillin.

I'm placing a order with vet uk today should I order some spare needles?

If so which ones and how many?

I dont use Vet UK for needles, I buy mine from here :

Some people find that only the larger gauge needles work with Depocillin and so they use this size :

I have never had a problem using the blue topped needles for Depocillin though :)

Thanks Jane.

Do I have to get a sharps box and dispose of them a certain way?

Yes, my Vet gives me a huge sharps box which I return to the surgery for safe disposal when full.

My Kitchen actually resembles a drugs den these days :?

We got a sharps box from the vet for Gingers, and we take them back when its full. You get through a lot of needles giving depocillin

We have to use the orange tipped needles for Ginger, as the blue ones are too difficult to get into her, in my experience and for Ginger.

Good Luck with the Depocillin Amy, i know i don't have to say be careful, but lots of vibes for giving this and for Bluebell

Thanks, I'll ask my vet then. A druggy would have a field day in our kitchen what with my meds, hubbys meds and bluebells!

I've never once had to buy them, Gingers vet (before he left) always gave me syringes and needles FOC, although he wasn't meant to.

Ours are Terumo 25G x5/8" (0.5 x 16mm)

I have about 30 left here for the next time

I use the blue needles for depocillin. I used to have to use the slightly larger green needles, but it seems to be slightly thinner in consitency nowadays.

Make sure you put the new needle on just before your ready to inject, otherwise it can sometimes clog up.

Agree with this also, and leave the syringe in the warmth for a few minutes before giving it, as when its cold it seems to clog more? :?
