They can eat Calendula (the whole plant) but not, so far as I know, the smaller French Marigolds - although I'll let someone with more knowledge confirm this about the French Marigolds :)

My lot love the Calendula :)

They look like French or African Marigolds, as far as I am aware they are not bunny safe.

Pot Marigolds (Calendulas) are, but I think the African and French ones arent.

ETA: is that a roof terrace? It looks lovely, very mediterranean and relaxing.

I was just looking on the internet to find out why the French/African marigolds (tagetes) are not safe....and found this one that says that Calendulas (pot marigolds) are toxic!!

http://www.adoptarabbit.com/articles/toxic.html

Its so confusing - I had always thought they were safe after reading them on several separate lists...

This one says Calendula is safe: http://www.medirabbit.com/EN/GI_diseases/Food/feeding_en.pdf

And this one: http://www.rabbitsonline.net/view_topic.php?id=57996&forum_id=17

This list just says Marigold - doesnt say which type: http://earthhome.tripod.com/rabsafe.html

This one says Tagetes (French/African Marigolds) are not safe: http://www.rabbitsonline.net/view_topic.php?id=64961&forum_id=48

All I can say is "if in doubt, leave it".

 They're safe on every list I've read, and they're sold in certain rebbit treats you can buy :?

My bunnies have eaten Calendula all last year, and dried over winter, with no problems at all :)

Thats what I thought too so I was surprised when I saw it on that list and had to double check I'd read it right. There is a flower with a similar name - Celandine - which is toxic...perhaps when writing the list they confused the two? :?

I've sown Calendula in my garden specifically thinking it was bunny-safe.

that's the trouble with so many internet sites!
calendular or pot marigold (all parts) are 100% safe and enjoyed :D
french and african marigolds are not, in fact you can make insecticide out of them

Ta for the clarification. I was sure it was that way round - just that one site made me think twice!! Thanks!
