Recommendation - Vet in Hertfordshire/North London

VikkiVet

Mama Doe
Hi, my bunny savvy vet is leaving the practice and I don't like the rest at the practice, so need a recommendation for a good vet in Herts or North London (Enfield/Hadley Wood/Barnet area). I can drive and have the RVC down the road for emergencies so doesn't need to be very close - prepared to drive for someone worth it! Thanks :wave::wave:

No that's do-able - have you had personal experience with him? I see his website says he has a special interest in rabbits.

I have only seen Guy with my 2 for vacc's and 1 episode of stassis. I have been very pleased with the advice and experience overall - health check, telephone advise etc. Guy does have a special interest in and lots of experience of rabbits I understand.

I've seen him quite a lot with Poppy. I went to him after somebody on here suggested him to me when I was at my wits end with Poppy's eyes, altho in hindsight what he did was pretty basic (going by what I now know from RU), it was much more than my other vet.

He does Poppy's back teeth spurs in 5 mins when she was previously put under everytime, we are now managing a decayed molar situation. I don't know if he was involved directly but the practice got both my two through stasis at Christmas. Oh, Poppy also had an op to remove a large lump from an injection reaction-all went smoothly.

I also like it cos the surgery is 24-7 so are always there when u need them.

I think there is also another vet at the practice who specialises in rabbits also, he has managed to show me the spurs on Poppy's back teeth using that instrument thingy, was very interesting, don't know his name tho :?

I am NOT driving 5 hours just so you can cuddle my monsters and I can share drooling over your vet with you!!!!:lol::lol::lol:

Awww,Shame.Your buns are worth a cuddle at least and Ian is Droolsome.
I tell you,Youre missing out!!!!!!!!!!!!!:p:p:p

Bit more of a trek, but Nine Lives in Redbourn I go to, they have a special room just for bunnies, and let pairs go in. Friendly lot, got a lovely cup of tea when the vet got stuck in traffic and was late for my early morning appointment last week :)

It's just off jct.9 of the M1, right on the Redbourn high street. They support Agatha's Annex in Harpenden.

I've heard great things about Nine Lives from Ruth at Agatha's Annex too  I wish I had gone there with my 2 when they turned out to be brother and sister instead of sisters as I think they will neuter quite early and keep together, as it was I had to separate them and they never rebonded  Hindsight eh?!

Droolsome? that's a new one! You know they say its a small profession so if you talk about one vet to another it tends to get back to them......

... you have also used his full name so that could also come up on a google search....

I might need a bribe, I am a very poor student! ;););)

They are registered with Guy and going in for vaccines on Saturday, will let you know what I think!

Look forward to your views! Be prepared for a very small car park and busy streets on a Saturday though. Have you asked for Guy himself?

Need to get mine down there for their VHD's.

Car parking is a nightmare, its small and tight. I've only had to go round the block once though, I drove back in and got parked as someone just left.

Yes, I have always got parked, it's small and I have a long car but I have always been in the week.

There is a pay car park at The Harebreaks (name of road) a short way up the main road (St Albans Road) if you can manage to carry them a short way.

awesome thanks for that - i saw on google earth that there is a small carpark. Carrying 3 rabbits in one carrier is kinda heavy but I can manage them for a short distance.
