Thank you!! I love her so much!!:love::love:

Mutt is a "pet name" by the way....I'm not being rude to her!:lol:

She is by no means perfect, and needs a lot of training when it comes to certain aspects.... walking past other dogs, recall, stealing toys.... but I look forwards to working through that with her! We've already made HUGE progress with some things! She's a bright little button.

In the evenings, no matter how mental she's been in the day, she curls up next to me and snoozes.

When I say it's bed time she'll get up off one sofa, and go lie on the other one!:lol: I have to nudge her into the kitchen to her bed. (The sofa's are obviously far comfier!;)

I love her so much!!:love:

Shes lovely,Ali.You have your hands full.

My hands are full and overflowing, but we're getting into a routine now....it's getting easier!

It's mostly the walking that's getting me. I was thrown into the deep end with walks. We're going for walks 3-4 hours a day, every day. Jumping in to that from nothing, previously, is a shock to the system.

T's annoying me immensly as he refuses to walk more than 30 minutes in one go, alone with her. All I ask is that he does the morning walk twice a week, to give me those two walks off, but he thinks 1/2 an hour is fine.....
....it's NOT fine! After an hours walk she lies down for at least a couple of hours after, and we have a calm dog....after 30 minutes she's still bouncing off the walls.
(I think I've got to him with the importance of longer walks (TBH I'd say an hour isn't long enough) and I really hope he'll pull his weight. All I ask is two walks a week....I'm happy to do the other 19 odd hours a week!)

You will look at her in about 18 months time and wonder if she is the same dog once you have trained and socialised her well, it sounds like you are building up a great bond with her too

ETA when you can let her run free in a safe area eg park, she will be easier with regards to walking times

I always forget how hard work dogs must be. That's a lot of walking time!

She's just so big and energetic at the moment, she needs it unless I want to go crazy!:lol: She's only 19 months, so is a bundle of energy.

I can't trust her off the lead near other dogs at the moment, as she'll just go up to every dog she sees...no matter how far away they are. This means that most of our walks are walking on the lead, and not much running about....so I think when she can run more during the walks they can be for a shorter duration. :)

Thank you!! I really think I am! She definitely listens to me more than T, and is far more attentive to what I'm doing!;)

Ali, she is bootiful! My bf hasn't taken the pup out yet, but I think Jin needs less than yours and Jin can go offlead. Have you thought about trying a long lead for practicing recall? Try starting in the house......every time you say her name, throw her a treat. Eventually, she will respond really fast to her name. Then, start saying "Mia, come" and hold down a treat. Find out her weakness. Jintys is that cheap cooked chicken for sandwiches
(by the ham) which I cut up. She'll get it. Keep the pics coming

She's great until a dog comes nearby. I have to wait a month for training classes to start...so hopefully she'll get used to listening to me near other dogs. :)

She is lovely! You can definitely see the Ridgeback in here, but she has a very soppy typical Labrador face!

I'm glad she has a lovely home with you.
