  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Is it too soon to give them more space?

Islay and Jura were spayed on Tuesday, and they are living in a 4ft x 3ft bed in the bedroom. They have started playing (running, chasing and throwing themselves against the door as they want out ). It's too much for a small pen and they are squabbling now. Would it be OK to let them outside in the garden for a short time (supervised)?

I can't think of what else to do, I've let them in the bedroom but they are just bored. They are used to being in a 12ft x 9ft shed, and 4ft x 3ft just isn't acceptable to them any more!

I think if they are well in themselves and eating it'd be fine to let them back outside. Just keep an eye on their wounds to make sure they're nice and clean

Thanks :D They are well in themselves...too well! Maybe its because they are indoors at the moment, but I don't remember them ever being this naughty. I think the vet put extra hormones in

I will put them back in the shed tomorrow :D

They have had a bit of time in the run and seem very happy, the happiest they have been since they got home! Had a good look at their tummies and all looks very clean.
