  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Jimby has eaten...

Popped out the room for a min and came back to discover Jimby has eaten a hole in the hay bag, the rubber from the dust pan and brush handle and I am worried he may have eaten some bristles?

Dont worry hun. Max has eaten bits of bin bag countless times, and Timmy likes to chew the rubber off the dustpan and the bristles off the brush when Im not looking  Neither have ever had any problems.
Just make sure he eats lost of hay tonight

He is a little monkey! He has been bin raiding today too, taking out bits of kitchen roll and running off with them with me chasing after him!

We are ment to be moving them upstairs tomorrow, do you think we should hold off now in case he has a bad tummy?

I think he'll be fine to be honest. You'll know by the morning anyway

I know I worry... probably too much  but they are my babies!
I have just fed him 3 sprigs of nice wet parsley so hopefully that will aid it on its way!
Dont they say that you should monitor them for 48hrs after they have eaten something they shouldnt have? :?

Norty Jimby. I've heard of buns eating all sorts of alarming things they shouldn't and being OK, but I'm the worrying type, so would definitely be keeping a close eye on the little rascal's input and output for the next day or so.

He has eaten so many things he shouldnt have in the past including, duck tape, handbags, bedding, carpet, paper, plastic bags, walls... the list goes on!
I am a bit worried about moving them tomorrow, which my husbands says is silly and that they will be fine. But I am a worrier especially when it comes to my babies!!
I know they are only going to be in their box for a matter of a minuite so should not be a problem and I am going to use all the bedding that they have so that nothing smells different to them.
I just worry becasue I am going to have to put them in a pen whilst their cage is dismantled and I worry it will stress them out then if they go in to statis I wont know if it is a blockage due to what he has eaten or statis due to stress and with it only being emergency vets over the weekend that adds more worry gah...!! :(
