Hello and some advice please :0)

Hello!

Oh what a relief finding a site like this as I'm tearing my hair out looking for advice!
I'm looking into getting 2 rabbits within the next few months and am already struggling with what hutch to get!

Could someone tell me whether either of these would be any good...

Preferred one -
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wooden-Rab...?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1307564193&sr=1-2

or this

Thank you in advance, I really appreciate any advice!

Hi, welcome

The second one wouldn't have enough floor space for wet days, so avoid that one.

Have you thought about getting a shed and attach a run to it? That way you can sit in with your bunnies :)

have a look around the site and you'll see some fab examples of housing ideas :)

hello:wave:

you'll find all sorts of accommodation ideas on here for your bunnies.

if you have space though, a shed and run is great :)

I see you are in Cambridgeshire if you are about on 26th June there is a small animal day at Wood Green Animal Shelter http://www.woodgreen.org.uk/whats-on/view/allaboutanimals

Make Mine Chocolate http://www.makeminechocolate.org.uk/home will be therem we have lots of photos and ideas for rabbit housing. If you are not in a desperate hurry come along and meet us and we can give you lots of ideas to get you started on finding houseing for your buns which would work for both you and your buns.

Hello and welcome.

Neither of those hutches have enough indoor floor space unfortunately. :(

There is lots of useful info here to consider when choosing outdoor housing: http://www.therabbithouse.com/outdoor/index.asp and it also explains the different options available.

There are also lots of photos in the gallery there too to give you some ideas: http://www.therabbithouse.com/gallery.asp

There are also lots of threads on here with photos, if you have a little look through the housing section. :)

Welcome  I personally dont think either is a very good option, have a look in the housing section for some ideas

Hi Janice

So that playhouse, what would you put in there for them? A small hutch to sleep in off the ground? What else would they need in there?
I'm happy for a shed/playhouse-type set up as I have children so it makes sense for them to be able to go in with them especially in rain etc.
Please forgive my ignorance!

You can use a hutch in there as a bedroom, have a shelf in there with a ramp for them to run up, with maybe a box bedroom on the shelf, there are all sorts of ideas, so long as bunny has somewhere which will be warm to snuggle in when it's cold :)

Some people put lino on the floor - just make sure it's non-slip.

Just make sure that if you get a shed or playhouse it has shiplap/tongue and groove wood, and not overlap. Bunnies are very good at chewing through overlap sheds as they can get a grip on the wood!

Hi!

Sheds and playhouses are great cos you can go sit with them plus they are a lot cheaper. Then you can quite easily attach a secure run with a cat flap or tunnel. :D

You can put a small hutch inside and can often pick them up very cheaply from car boot sales; I tried it though and the bunnies used it as a toilet.:lol:

Alternatively, you could add a shelf along one side that they can hop onto, and perhaps a large cardboard box stuffed with hay somewhere on the floor, so that they can snuggle into it if they want to.

I have had my buns since feb, I have a double decker with attached run, they get locked in at night to be on the safe side and have a couple of hours supervised free range time each day. I wish now already, that I had gone down the playhouse with run route...I am now in the process of persuading husband it would be a great idea and find a cheap second hand one I can convert!...just food for thought. I hadn't had buns before feb but definitely think now that playhouse or shed option are a far better idea :D

How rude of me...forgot to say hi and welcome  x
