A Positive Vet Story

This is not a rabbit story but I hope it can show a little of how having the right vet can make so much difference.

Last week we lost our beautiful parrot of 33 years. The following day we received a message from his vet asking how we were coping and if there was anything he could do for us. He offered to help arrange for cremation if we wanted and gave us his work phone number as well as his home number saying we could ring him any time to discuss anything to do with Eric. He had been Eric's vet for 27 years.

Today we received this letter from him. Although our bird's name was Eric, the vet always called him by his pet name of Ricky.

It sounds like you have a lovely vet, what a thoughtful man; he must have become attached to Eric after being his vet for so long too.

We found this vet 27 years ago when at 9pm on a Sunday night Eric was showing all the signs of pneumonia and our regular avian vet had moved interstate. He came out to the clinic on a cold night and was so kind and caring we never left.

We are totally satisfied with our vets. We have a bunny savvy one for the rabbits, a reptile specialist for our lizards and this wonderful avian specialist for when we had birds, as well as a back up for each.

Along the way we have had to kiss a few frogs before we found these princes/princesses.
