Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Advice please!

Young Bun
Hi

I have a little boy who is due to be neutered next Monday.
He is living with a neutered female who we have had to separate from because she was getting fed up with all his attention! They got on together initially but then his hormones have kicked in!
He has been living facing her around a month..(they can see each other but cannot meet).

Downstairs I have a new un neutered female who I am waiting to bond with other two.

1) should I move the little boy away from the female upstairs and bring the girl up where he is or would this bring on stress to my current girl?
2)Will he be getting stressed because he can't get to her or will I make him more stressed if I move him?

Any advice would be appreciated - really worried - don't want to make him stressed and fall in.

My advice would be to keep the two buns who know each other close to each other but separated until 8 weeks after his neuter & his hormones have died down. Re-bonding should then be much easier but you should probably still do this on neutral territory :)

I personally wouldn't attempt to bond the other female until she is speyed as she will still have her hormones and this is likely to cause problems & could un-bond your other two as well.

Will he be getting stressed out now because he can't get to her? Or have they bonded despite restrictions in getting to each other so should keep them together? She seems to lie near him on her side of hutch:love:

Worried I am making him ill if he stays facing her and can't get to her!

I lost an older rabbit recently to bad chest infection and don't want him to fall ill:( I know he is young but I was worried this morning because he did a little sneeze - think it was because I let him out and his was sniffing around.. I am like this now after my poor Thumps died. very wary about every little sound that they make and have been rushing them back and forth to vets (who then tell me that they are fine:oops:)

I'm not sure, every rabbit is different but I'd still be inclined to keep him close to the bun he knows for now. Being completely alone & in a new place could make him even worse :( Make sure he gets plenty of exercise/time out & toys to keep him occupied :)
